Microsoft Copilot is an AI chatbot using which you can ask queries and generate articles. Moreover, you can also use Copilot to compose letters, poems, listicles, and much more. Microsoft copilot is integrated into Windows 11 and can be accessed via the web. You can also access Copilot via Bing, Skype, Windows 11 search, and the Copilot Windows app. In this article, you will learn the steps required to access Microsoft Copilot via Windows 11.

Getting Started

To work with Microsoft Copilot using Windows 11, you should select the Copilot in Windows (preview) icon located on the Taskbar. You can locate the icon from the right side of the Windows 11 Taskbar adjacent to the Notifications icon.

The Copilot (preview) dashboard will appear as shown in Figure 2.

Microsoft Copilot usage options

There are two options now. You can select the automated suggestion as displayed on the Copilot dashboard. The second option is to manually provide the query. If you have been following AI, you would know that a query is also called a prompt. If you ask the Copilot chatbot to perform a specific action in the form of a question, then you are providing a prompt.

The next step is to provide your query as shown in Figure 3. The Copilot intelligently guesses the correct word as you start typing the prompt. You can hit the tab key to select the automated word suggestion or can continue typing the query.

Microsoft Copilot provides detailed answers to the provided query along with the relevant sources as shown in Figure 4.

If you point the mouse pointer over the query, the Copilot displays relevant options for copying and editing the prompt as in Figure 5. You can also ask Bing to display search results based on the prompt.

You can activate and work with Copilot plugins by selecting the Plugin icon from the top right side of the dashboard. You will find several plugins like Instacart, Kayak, Klarna, OpenTable, Shop, and Suno. These plugins are designed to perform specific work as per the instructions. For example, if you would like Copilot to generate songs, you need to activate Suno. You should then provide a prompt like “Use suno to create a melody song involving rains”. You can activate only 3 plugins and you have to disable one plugin if you need to use another. You can also work with plugins using the web interface and the Copilot Windows app available via the Microsoft Store.

As you can observe, you can ask Copilot to perform any task. The usage of Microsoft Copilot enhances productivity. You can also use your creativity and imagination to generate AI images via Copilot. You should also use Copilot for educational purposes as well. You can ask Copilot to create study guides. Microsoft Copilot is integrated with Windows 11 and you can work with the chatbot instantly. Moreover, Surface Laptops ships with Copilot and you can straight away work with the AI chatbot immediately after the configuration.
